Weeks Before
- Agree a moving date that works around your business's quieter periods
- Notify staff, clients and suppliers of the new address and moving timeline
- Audit furniture and equipment — decide what moves, what's replaced, what's disposed of
- Plan IT and phone line transfers early, as these often take the longest to arrange
Assign Responsibility
Give each team or department a point of contact responsible for their own area — packing their desks, labelling equipment and confirming what needs special handling, such as servers, screens or sensitive documents.
Label and Colour-Code
Colour-coding boxes and furniture by department or floor makes unloading and unpacking at the new site far faster, especially for larger office moves.
Plan for Minimum Downtime
Where possible, schedule the physical move for an evening, weekend or quieter trading period. Keep a "day one" box per team with anything they need to function immediately — chargers, essential documents, stationery.
On the Day
Have a single point of contact on-site to direct the removal team, confirm what goes where in the new space, and handle anything unexpected as it comes up.
Specialist equipment?Business moves often involve servers, screens and specialist furniture. Let us know what's involved when you get a quote so we can plan accordingly.
